It happens from time to time that the summer heat is interrupted by a shower or two by a wayward cloud blown in over the mountains. If that should happen during your vacation, or if by chance, you are sunburnt and need respite from the outdoors, this post is for you too. We have a whole list of family activities in and around Kelowna on our web site that are both indoors and outdoors. Below are some of our favorite indoor destinations for kids.

The H2O Fitness and Adventure Centre is a Kelowna municipal recreation facility. The giant indoor water park delights young and invigorates the old. 3 water slides, a lazy river run, a wave pool, 50m lap pool and high diving towers give the kids plenty of choice of where to burn the energy jitters.

The Energyplex is a fun destination to spend a few hours. Supervised play with a climbing structure and an entire gymnastics centre complete with trapeze, foam pits, tumbling mats and large foam play blocks are entirely a blast.

The Rotary center for the Arts and the Kelowna Public Library offer many indoor activities, particularly during the spring, summer and fall months. The Kelowna Museums are likewise a perfect destination for those less than perfect beach days. Downtown shops or Orchard Park mall are a great way to spend a day in the dry.

Or you can simply choose to ignore the drizzle from above. Summer showers in Kelowna can be a welcome break from the heat and are usually light and short lived. Grab a light jacket and visit the outdoor bird sanctuary on Manhattan drive, ride your bikes to the outdoor spray park at City Park, visit Oyama Zip Lines, or explore Kangaroo Creek Farm.

As always, ask our staff on your arrival for more details or for directions. We’re locals, we know.
