Sandy beaches are what Kelowna is famous for. Here are Kelowna's top 5 beach destinations.

Gyro Beach (location link)

Located on Lakeshore Road just a few steps from the Siesta Suites Kelowna hotel.  

Highlights:
Gently sloping beach with large swimming areas
Soft warm sand and extensive children's play areas
Shaded grassy picnic areas
Beach volleyball courts
Close to Pandosy Street restaurants, shops and ice-cream destinations.

Maintained washrooms
Note:  Gyro Beach is the most popular Kelowna summer beach destination for good reason.  It is an all day destination for locals and visitors alike.  Parking may be tricky to find at certain times of the day.  Due to the shallow swim areas near the beach, the water clarity there may vary during heavy use.

Rotary Beach (location link)

Rotary Beach along lakeshore road is the smaller version of Gyro Beach.  Beautiful sands and picnic areas, though at a more relaxed pace.
 
Highlights:
Gently sloping beach with large swimming areas
Soft warm sand and extensive children's play areas
Shaded grassy areas
Generally more popular with families with young children
On-site paddle board rental
Maintained washrooms
Note:  Rotary Beach is also a tremendously popular Kelowna summer beach destination.  Parking may be tricky to find at certain times of the day.  Due to the shallow swim areas near the beach, the water clarity there may vary during heavy use.

Hot Sands beach (location link)

Kelowna's beach in City Park next to the W.R. Bennett floating bridge. It is easily accessible from downtown and is backed by an expansive play structure and a great water park.

Highlights:
Steeper sloping beach with large swimming areas with consistently clear water
Soft warm sand and extensive children's play areas
Shaded grassy areas and sports fields
Beach volleyball and basketball courts
Close to downtown restaurants, shops and ice-cream destinations.

Children's water park
Maintained washrooms
To note:  Hot Sands beach is a stay and play all day destination.  There are large parking areas which are pay parking.

Bertram Beach park (location link)

Located at the South end of the city, past St Hubertus and Cedar Creek wineries. The few minutes of extra car time are worth the interesting scenery, natural setting and a beautiful view back to the city.

Highlights:
Varied beach terrain and swimming areas with consistently clear water
Sandy beaches, pebble beaches and natural rocky areas
Children's play areas
Shaded grassy areas
Picnic shelters
Nature walks
Walking pier
Maintained washrooms
Note:  Bertram Park is more than a beach destination as it includes natural walking areas and some trails.  There are two parking lots with free parking.  Pack a lunch as there are no shops near this park.

Sarsons Beach (location link)

Sarsons Beach is surrounded by a quiet residential neighborhood. 
 
Highlights:
Varied beach terrain and swimming areas.  Sandy and pebble beach with consistently clear water.
Children's play areas
Shaded grassy areas and picnic tables
Maintained washrooms
To note:  Sarsons Beach has a relaxed pace.  It is a smaller park with sandy beach areas extending to the north and south along residential homes.  Parking is free but limited.  Additional street parking is available.

Tug Boat Beach (location link)
Tug Boat Beach is to the north of Downtown Kelowna, bordered by natural marshlands to the north and Waterfront Park to the south. 
 
Highlights:
Large sandy beach with consistently clear water
Maintained washrooms
Showers
Concession stand
Paved trails for walking extend from the nature marsh along the waterfront to Bernard Avenue and City Park.
Note:  Tug Boat Beach is for those who like the sun as there are no shade areas.  Street parking and pay parking are available near by.

There are many, many more beaches to explore in and around Kelowna. Several are hidden and difficult to find, but have just as much value and interest as these main destinations.
