Culture and Arts

Kelowna's cultural district did not evolve by chance.  Planning for the Arts in Kelowna began in the 1970's and has continuously been the focus in creating this vibrant city.  In 2004, Kelowna was awarded the “Cultural Capital of Canada” award by Canadian Heritage.

The City of Kelowna maintains an Arts, Culture & Heritage site to promote city sponsored events.

The Kelowna Art Gallery serves the Central Okanagan Valley with a variety of local, national and international exhibitions.  It also offers a wide selection of public programs for all ages.

As Kelowna's only licensed dinner theatre, the Kelowna Actors Studio produces vibrant, exciting presentations of the world's best loved Broadway productions.

The Kelowna Community Theatre is home to the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra and hosts many national and international performances.

The Rotary Centre for the Arts is home to the Mary Irwin Theatre and the Theatre Kelowna Society, eight resident artists, a bistro, box office, pottery studio, galleries, and dance studio.

Ballet Kelowna is small ballet company, our performances are intimate, carefully crafted, rare and precious, captivating audiences through the movement of dance.

The Kelowna Museums offer 5 distinct sites which are alive with our history.
